The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for southeastern Minnesota Saturday afternoon.
A semi takes a break on the side of the highway as moving vehicles are moving slowly with snow that is heavy at times and blowing. This is a view of Highways 16 and 63 just north of Spring Valley.
A band of heavy snow is sweeping across the region this afternoon with some whiteout conditions as snow is accumulating at one to two inches per hour. A total of three to four inches is expected.
Snow is blowing and drifting as gusts reach 30 miles per hour.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation hasn't issued any warnings, but area roads are snow-packed and slippery.
