I look forward to sharing more stories of people in our communi- ties, making sure residents are informed in regards to local news and to celebrate our students and local athletes in all of their endeavors.

As we begin 2014, I am excited about the possibilities the new year promises. I continue to be thankful for the blessings I' ve received in the past year and for those I will receive in the new year, whether I am aware of them or not.

While I know we do not need to wait for a new year to begin in order to make our lives better or change something we do not like, there is something about this time of year that makes me excited about good things yet to come.

I hope 2014 brings many good things your way and I hope we have many days to be thankful for in the new year.

This has been a very interest- ing week in regards to printing newspapers. With a day in the middle of the week devoted to cel- ebrating the Christmas holiday, staff taking time off and my own family popping in to visit, I once again marvel at our ability to get seven newspapers to print every week. Throwing in holidays and altered printing schedules makes it hard to keep track of what day it is.

This week brings another odd schedule, but it's nice to have that break in the middle of the week. For our company, the Christmas and New Year's holidays actually fell on the best possible day of our deadline schedule as we don't nor- mally print a paper on Wednesdays. We had to change when things were done to prepare for going to press, but overall, the change in schedule wasn't as bad as it could have been. Again, the only problem is trying to remem-

ber what day it is and what paper we are supposed to be working on. As we look forward to a new year, many have paused to take a look back through the year coming to a close this week. I guess I'd rather look forward and hope for continued joy and peace in my life. I look forward to more time spent with family, time to enjoy my hob- bies, the opportunity to continue to do a job I love (on most days) and occasions to make a difference in

the lives of others.
