The Friends of the Root River (FORR) will hold its 2017 annual meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Old Legion Hall, 35 1st Ave NW, Harmony.

Anyone interested in learning more about the non-profit organization is invited to attend.  The evening’s program will begin at 7 p.m. with a light meal served starting at 6:30 p.m. before the program begins.  Kevin Kuehner, soil scientist with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, will present information about the Root River Field to Stream Partnership, an eight-year ongoing study in three sub-watersheds of the Root River designed to help southeastern Minnesota farmers and policy-makers better understand the relationship between agricultural practices and water quality (www.mda.state.mn.us/cwf/rrpartnership).   The program is open and free to the general public.

FORR formed as a non-profit organization in 2015 and is committed to the health of the Root River.  There will be additional information at the meeting about who is involved in the organization and how to provide support, what it has done and what it plans to do in the coming year.  Anyone interested in supporting the Friends of the Root River can send donations to P.O. Box 97, Preston, MN 55965.  More information about FORR can be found at www.friendsoftherootriver.org.
