Preschool should be available to all 3- and 4-year-olds who need it. The State of Minnesota should fund triple the number of scholarships for preschool children. Ideally, a stable parent would be able to spend time talking to their children at home, teaching them how to wait until later or learn to say “thank you.”

Please join me in calling Sen. Jeremy Miller and Rep. Greg Davids and ask them to please give more scholarships to preschool. Help our children, especially our neediest, to get a good start in kindergarten and to persevere as school gets tougher.

In the long-term, I will need patient people helping me as I age more than I need $25 worth of tax cuts now. For children growing up in chaotic families, money spent on early learning can give confidence and stability. It is cheaper to spend the money now than on jails or mental hospitals.
