Alvin Dale Imm, 78, formerly of Spring Valley, was born on Dec. 12, 1935, in Jeffers, Minn., the son of Donald Leroy and Anna Laura (Warmbier) Imm.

He grew up on a farm near Jeffers until 1949 when the family moved to Spring Valley.

He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1953.

In 1955, he joined the Marines and served four years as an aircraft mechanic.  He stood guard during the inauguration of President Eisenhower's second term.

Once out of the Marines, he returned to Rochester to work at Gopher Aviation. After finishing Minnesota School of Business, he worked as a computer programmer at Rochester Silo, Josten's, Kahler Hotel and retired from Ace Telephone in Houston after 19 years.

On April 8, 1961, he married Mary Lou Reps in Winona.

He enjoyed wood carving and spending time with his family.

He was a member of the American Legion and Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rochester.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Rochester; son, Craig (Karen) Imm of Spring Valley; three grandchildren, Ethan, Andrew and Anna; two brothers, Ivan (Edna Mae) Imm of Northfield and Ervin (Sherry) Imm of North Liberty, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul. 

Funeral services for him were held on Monday, Aug. 11, at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, with entombment following with military honors at Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorials may be designated to Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rochester or St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wykoff.
