Eva N. Opsahl, 88, of Mabel, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
She was born Aug. 14, 1924, near Riceford, Minn., to Merton and Fannie (Watkins) Sherburne. She attended the Mabel High School.
On July 6, 1953, she married Clinton Opsahl. He died May 15, 2006.
Neva loved her work in the kitchen at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home and was there for 34 years before retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Mabel United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling the United States on bus tours, feeding the birds, watching soap operas and spending time with her family.
Survivors include four sons, three from a previous marriage, Steve Crawford and Ross (Rita) Crawford, both of Decorah, Iowa, and Danny (Shirley) Crawford of Minnetrista, Minn., and Lindsay (Mary) Opsahl of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Devin, Tonya, Kristen, Rick, Rob, Ron, and Gina; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Zelda Sagdalen and Priscilla Thompson, both of Mabel; a brother, Milton Sherburne of St. Paul; and special friend and caregiver, Claire Dahlberg.
In addition to her husband, Clinton, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Sherburne.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 4, at the Mabel United Methodist Church in Mabel with the Rev. David Stoeger officiating. Burial was in the Mabel Public Cemetery.
Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel was in charge of arrangements.
