Gordon "Gordy" Kallis, 55, of Mabel died Thursday, April 10, 2014.

He was born Nov. 3, 1958, in Caledonia to Rodney and Beverly (Holland) Kallis. He graduated from the Mabel-Canton High School in 1977.

On Aug. 26, 1984, he married Sara Sagdalen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They later divorced.

He lived his entire life in the Mabel area and farmed and worked construction in the area. He enjoyed working and farming, especially working with livestock.

He is survived by two daughters, Amy (Sam) Nelson of Chatfield and Kelly (Trent) Eide of Lanesboro; two grandchildren, Nolan and Norah Eide; his mother, Beverly of Spring Grove; brothers and sisters, Kevin of Rochester, Jeffrey (Cindy) of Rochester, Joni (Deb Groth) of Rochester, Mike of Caledonia, and Steve (Gina) of Owatonna; a niece; three nephews; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rodney; and grandparents, Jay and Beulah Kallis and James and Palma Holland.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating. Inurnment will be in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Blackhammer.

Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel was in charge of arrangements.
