Hilda Hoffmann, 83, formerly of Preston

Hilda M. Hoffmann, 83, of Northfield, Minn., previously of Preston (33 years), died Jan. 23, 2013, at the Northfield Hospital.
Hilda was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Cobden, Minn., the daughter of Herman and Selma (Beltz) Treichel. She married Sylvester Hoffmann Oct. 18, 1947. They established Hoffmann's Furniture and Upholstery business in New Ulm, which they operated together until 1978 when they relocated to a farm near Preston.
While Sylvester continued the upholstery business, Hilda went back to school and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked in this occupation for 17-1/2 years at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester. There, she touched the lives of many in tough times and made many lasting friendships among the staff. She was happiest when all of her family was together. Hilda attended St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Austin; she enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include eight children, Linda Havemeier, Randy, Daniel, Kevin (Dao), Debra (Chris) Thompson, Jeffery (Lori), Timothy, and Pamela Hoffmann; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Treichel, and Oswald (LaVern) Treichel; many nieces, nephews, and extended family and lifelong friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 26, at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston with the Rev. Randy Fossum officiating with burial in Watson Creek Cemetery, Preston.
