Donald James "Jim" Lawstuen, 65, of Casper, Wyo., died unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, in Riverton, Wyo.

He was born Oct. 30, 1947, in Lanesboro, to Donald and Eleanor (Hennessy) Lawstuen. He was the third son of nine children. He attended Waden Valley Country School for six years and then Lanesboro High School where he graduated in 1965.

He went off to Winona State for one semester on a full football scholarship. He was later drafted into the U.S. Army and became a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne, serving one tour in Vietnam. He received many medals including a Purple Heart. He was a self-employed flooring specialist for more than 40 years.

He was also the commander for the Veterans Club in Casper, Wyo. He loved hunting, fishing, pool, darts and also the casino.

Jim is survived by his wife, Deanna of Casper, Wyo.; his son, Jeff of Rochester; daughters, Rhonda and Dani, both of Casper, Wyo., and daughter, Nykki, of Auckland, New Zealand; brothers, Rodney of Alma, Wis., Robert of Preston, Joseph of Wykoff, John of Lanesboro, Peter of Minneapolis, and Paul of Cannon Falls; and a sister, Cathy Allen, of Eagan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Pat; and granddaughter, Brooke.

There will be a celebration of life for him at St. Patricks Church Hall, 4343 Harrodsburg Road, in Lanesboro, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, for friends and family.
