L. Hanson, 92, father of Lanesboro woman

Levern Hanson, 92, of Kasson-Mantorville, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at Country Oak Home Care in Dodge Center. He had lived there for three years.
He was born July 13, 1920, in Hayfield, to Alfred and Gena Hanson. He farmed all of his life and worked at Kahler Corp.
He married Helen Lentz; they later divorced. On July 10, 1956, he married Lucille Rich.
He enjoyed working in his yard with his flowers, going dancing and traveling with his special friend, Phyllis. He won many prizes for his beautiful flowers during the Marigold Days Festival in Mantorville. He was grand marshal for the Marigold Days Festival in September 1992. He also mowed many lawns and shoveled snow in Mantorville for years.
Survivors include three daughters: Joanne Smith, of Springfield, Ore., Sharon Geisler, of Lincoln, Neb., and Karen (Allan) Haugen of Lanesboro; a very special friend for 23 years, Phyllis Jones of West Concord; a brother, Roger Hanson of Kasson; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Alice; wife, Lucille on April 2, 1988; two granddaughters; one grandson; one stepdaughter; and one stepson.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at Wildwood Cemetery in Wasioja Township. In case of rain the memorial will be held at Concord Church of Christ, 55087 200th Ave., West Concord. Please join the family for a small lunch after the memorial.
