Phyllis Joann McCarthy, 78, of Lanesboro died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at the Harmony Community Healthcare Center.
Phyllis Joann Borgen was born Jan. 16, 1935, in Lanesboro, to Gerhardt and Cecilia (Pfremme) Borgen. She went to school in Lanesboro and graduated from the Lanesboro High School. She joined the U.S. Air Force as a WAF from 1954 to 1957. She was a secretary in the Air Force and continued with that profession after she was discharged.
She married Charles McCarthy in 1957 in Puerto Rico; he was also in the Air Force. When he was discharged he worked with the treasury department. They moved back to Lanesboro in 1989.
She was an active member of the Lighthouse Church in Roch-ester.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathryn (Steven) McCaslin of Warner Robins, Ga.; and one granddaughter, Lilith McCaslin of Warner Robins, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 15, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, with the Rev. Roland Burt officiating. A private burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Preston.
