Rita Ann Heusinkveld, 75, of Spring Valley, died Wednesday morning, March 20, 2013, at the Spring Valley Care Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 12, 1937, in Lanesboro, the daughter of George and Margaret (Crowe) Maxon. She moved to Spring Valley with her family as a young girl and was a 1955 graduate of Spring Valley High School. She was a cook for many years with the Spring Valley Sales Barn and Tootie's in Spring Valley and also ran her own catering service. She married Conrad Heusinkveld Feb. 21, 1971, in Las Vegas, Nev. The couple made their home in Spring Valley.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley. She enjoyed celebrating Christmas and St. Patrick 's Day and spending time at the family cabin.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Michael (Deb) Zimmer of Spring Valley, Tim Heusinkveld of Tucson, Ariz. and Patrick Heusinkveld and special friend, Melissa of Spring Valley; one daughter, Sara Heusinkveld of Rochester; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann; and her beloved dachshund, Bart.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Holly, her parents, grandparents, and one sister, Rosemary.
A memorial service was held Sunday, March 24, at Thauwald Funeral Home in Spring Valley with the Rev. Mareddy Pathareddy officiating. Burial of her ashes will be in St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery this spring.
