  • The Fillmore Central Band Department announces its upcoming concert on Monday, April 27, at 8 p.m. in the high school varsity gym in Harmony.

     
  • Rep. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) kicked off the 2015 Congressional Art Competition recently by inviting high school students from across Minnesota’s First District to submit their artwork for the contest.

     
  • Congratulations to the Fillmore Central High School band and choir for their recent "Superior" ratings at the Minnesota State High School League’s Large Group Music Contest. This year's festival was held at Fillmore Central High School on Tuesday, March 17.

     
  • In recognition of the Month of the Military Child and National Poetry Month in April, U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) announced that he is hosting his fourth annual poetry contest for Minnesota students. The theme of this year's contest is "Celebrating the Veteran in My Life."

     
  • The Fillmore Central Elementary School will have its annual Kindergarten Round-up information meeting for parents and visitation for students on Tuesday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m. in the elementary gym in Preston. Attendees should use the elementary entrance.

     
  • The Mabel-Canton Elementary School in Mabel will have its annual kindergarten round-up informational meeting for parents and their child on Friday, March 20, at 9 a.m.

     
  • Fillmore Central student performs  with prestigious all-state concert band

    On Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13 and 14, 300 of the finest high school band and orchestra musicians met at the annual Minnesota Music Educators Association All-State Mid-Winter Clinic at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. Among these elite performers was Fillmore Central contrabass clarinet player Lee Dyreson. Lee is the son of Jeff and Kirstin Dyreson of Preston.

     
  • Kjersten Peterson of Lanesboro, an eighth grader, earned a place as the first alternate at the final spelling bee during last week’s regional spelling bee in Rochester.

  • Local foundations support FC technology needs at pre-school level

    Fillmore Central School Readiness enrolls approximately 80 students, ages 3 to 5, each year.

     
  • The Mabel-Canton cheerleaders and their advisor, Heather Kleiboer, will be hosting its winter cheerleading camp for anyone in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. The spirit camp will be held in the Mabel-Canton High School gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 2 to 4 p.m.

     
  • Mabel-Canton nominates Triple A, ExCEL award students

    Each year, Minnesota high schools are able to nominate two seniors for the Triple A Award and two juniors for the ExCEL Award. This school year, district staff chose to nominate Danielle Graves and Jon Selness for the Triple A Award; and Emma Wathier and Mitchell Lee for the ExCEL Award.
