Habitat for Humanity and local volunteers have announced that the fourth annual Harmony Hustle will be held on Saturday, July 6, and will include a 10K run, a 5K fun run or walk and a 1K kids challenge. The event is based at the Harmony Visitor Center and Trailhead with the 10K starting at 8 a.m., the 1K kids challenge at 9 a.m. and the 5K starting at 10 a.m.

Over the last three years, the Harmony Hustle has raised more than $16,000 with the help of its wonderful participants and business sponsors.

The Habitat for Humanity house is nearing completion with the dedication event scheduled for Monday, June 17, at 5:30 p.m. The house is located at 165 Niagara Court NW, Harmony and all are welcome to join in the celebration.

Funds from this year's Harmony Hustle will help cover the remaining costs of the Harmony build and be used for future Brush with Kindness rehabilitation projects throughout Fillmore County.

To help, plan on participating in the Harmony Hustle on July 6. One can participate individually or as a group. This is a great family fun opportunity or get a group of friends or co-workers together for a fun outing (and maybe even a little friendly competition). One can run or walk, or simply "hustle" down the trail - whatever you can do is OK; this is meant to be a fun event. Talk to family and friends and come out and support this great project for Habitat for Humanity.

Early registration will be held on Friday, July 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. and race day registration will be held from 7 to 8:30 a.m., both at the Harmony Visitor Center, located on Main Avenue North in Harmony, at the intersection of Highways 52 and 139.

The 10K run begins at 8 a.m. and registration is $20 by June 15 and $25 after that. The 1K kids challenge, for children 10 and under, begins at 9 a.m. and registration is $5 per child. The 5K fun run and walk begins at 10 a.m. and registration is $15 before June 15 and $20 thereafter. Children 10 and under may participate in the 5K for free.

Online registration can be completed at www.habitatwinona.org. Please fill out a form for every participant in the group. Paying once is acceptable, just make sure to note who is included in that payment.

The Run will take place on the scenic Harmony-Preston Valley Bike Trail, leaving from the visitors center and going out and back.

Awards will be given to first, second and third place in the 10K. In addition to overall first, second and third place winners of the 5K, first place winners in each age division of the 5K will also receive an award. In the 1K kids challenge, all of the participants will receive a prize.

All Harmony Hustle registrants will receive a Harmony Hustle bag filled with surprises provided by the sponsors and local businesses. T-shirts are available for an additional $10.

Following the completion of the race, a light breakfast will be served for participants and guests.

Any donation amount will help and is appreciated. Other ways one can support this event are by providing refreshments for the event and/or promotional items that can be given to the participants. Registered participants will receive a small tote with items from businesses in the pack; either promotional items or product.

Want to volunteer?

Some volunteers are needed to help with the event. On Wednesday, July 3, and Friday, July 5, volunteers are needed to make posters and signs and to stuff bags for participants. Also needed are about 25 helpers for the day of the event to register, control intersections, keep time, man water stations and help with awards and refreshments.
