Nate Birch is making a bid for a varsity spot by shooting a 46 in the JV match that FC also won, 208-233. Other JV scores: Garrett Barnes (52), Vaughan Schmidt (55), Lee Dyreson (55), Dacoda Johnson (56) and Kurtis Hershberger (67).

Last Friday the guys traveled to Adams and beat Southland, 181-195. Jordan Miller was medalist there too, shooting a 42. Also in the 40s were Matt Guttormson (44), Mike Walsh (47), and Ascher Ostrom (48). Alex Lange had a round of 50 and Trevor Barnes came in at 52. Pretty good golfing for everybody considering what the conditions were!

JV scores for FC at Cedar River (Adams) were Nate Birch (53), Dacoda Johnson (54), Vaughan Schmidt (59), Garrett Barnes (63) and Kurtis Hershberger (67).

The varsity team is currently undefeated in TRC play.

The gals got a win over Caledonia/Spring Grove, 204-212, which is the first time the Warriors have lost a conference dual meet in decades. Katie Tammel was medalist, shooting a 48 for the nine holes. Other FC scores: Keeley Todd (49), Grace Miller (53), Laura Donney (54), Elayna Kiehne (69) and Rianna Ryan (74).

The girls team also won at Adams, downing the Rebels, 228-252. Keeley Todd had the low Fillmore Central score, 54. Other scores recorded were Laura Donney (55), Katie Tammel (58), Grace Miller (61), Elayna Kiehne (71) and Haley Ostrom (85).

Coach Lane Powell, questioned on the "high scores," saying "the conditions were soggy, wet, swamplike, etc. The rough was well over three inches in many spots, laying completely over, in others. The girls did a nice job of keeping their composure." Perhaps he was saying, in a nice way, that maybe they shouldn't have been playing at all!
