The votes are in, and Lanesboro netters have chosen two outstanding players for 2013 team awards.
Junior setter Steph Erickson was named Most Valuable Player. She totaled 206 assists, 89 digs, and 33 ace serves during the 2013 campaign.
Junior middle hitter Alexis Jorgenson has earned the Most Improved Player Award. Season totals for her were not released.
Senior middle hitter Regan Howerton and senior outside hitter Madison Ming have both earned Academic All-State honors
A few more season totals: Senior outside hitter Kaia Hongerholt totaled 111 digs and 70 kills during the year. Junior right side hitter Olivia Haug tallied 43 ace blocks. Howerton placed 95 percent of her serves in-bounds.
Although the Burros posted a record of 3-15, opponent after opponent credited LHS with some tough and gutsy play. During their first three matches, the team went 1-2, but played five sets on each occasion, winning and losing by 3-2 margins. Lanesboro then lost to Houston and Lyle/Pacelli, but managed to win a set in each of those matches as well.
After a 3-0 loss to conference champs Mabel-Canton, LHS won a set against Spring Grove, a team which tied for second-place in the SEC East. The Burros defeated Leroy-Ostrander twice (once in the L-O tournament) and Glenville-Emmons once.
