With an early-bird indoor meet already under their belts, the Lanesboro/Fillmore Central/ Mabel-Canton track and field team is ready to see the return of warmer weather, and some outdoors competition.

There are 32 boys and 32 girls listed on the varsity roster. Seven ladies and two gents return as section qualifiers. Junior Olivia Haug not only hurled the discus at section, she went on to compete at state last season, taking 11th place out of a field of 80 throwers. Teammate Sara Vettleson-Trutza competed at section in the 4x400 and 4x800M relay. Freshman Leah Ruen ran in the same two races. Teammate Kenzie Broadwater also competed in the 4x400, as well as the 100 and 200M dash, and long jump. Freshman Kiera Olson ran in the 800M relay, as well as the 3200M. Freshman Kendyl Bennet was part of the 4x400M team. Eighth grader Bailey Ruen competed in both relays, and the 1600M run.

Gabe Decker returns to the track for his senior year. He qualified for the section meet in pole vault and 200M dash last spring. Senior Quentin Case ran the 110M and 300M hurdles, as well as the 4x400 relay.

There are no seniors on the ladies' varsity roster. Juniors include Claire Peterson, Journey Olson, Katie Evans Leah Scheevel, Michaela Morrow, and Ruth Higbe-Harrah.

Sophomores Gabrielle Shupe, Kimberly Morrow, Rachel Eversole, and Rachel Kimball are listed, as well as freshmen Paige Bennet, Allyson Gathje, Alyssa Gathje, Cassidy Ruud, Maggie Decker and Michaela Brazee.

Eighth-grader Laura Vettleson-Trutza, and seventh-graders Daytona Hovland, Emily Mock, Emily Snyder, Jamie Rein and Lexie Johnson will compete as well.

For the lads, senior Niko Anderson will hit the track, along with classmates Bram Van Lent, Mac Stone and Monty Holm.

Juniors Alex Reed, Damon Zutz, Eric Holst, Matthew Kiehne, Travis Troendle and Zach Voeltz are ready, along with sophomores Cade Pederson, Marcus Mulvihill and Steven Rein.

Freshmen include Ben Gjere, Jared Troendle, Layton Howerton, Michael Kotek, Shane Sorum, TJ Ruen and Treyton Chiglo.

Eighth-graders include Brady Johnson, Domanic Merkel, Eric Kunz and Jordan Miller.

The seven-grade class is sending Andrew Luck, Daniel Erickson, Jared Reinhardt, Joey Lange, Solomon Stellmaker and Travis Sexton.

Jared Pierce will take the reins as head coach of both programs this year. He has helped out in various roles for several years, and will be assisted by coaches Lori Anderson, Joe Cullen and Riley Swier.
