Harmony couple supporting Young America's Foundation
Wednesday, February 27, 2013 6:31 AM
Allan Dahl of Harmony is shown at the Reagan Ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif., which he and his wife, Janie, support through their donations to the Young America's Foundation.
On Feb. 6, 2013, Ronald Reagan would have celebrated his 102nd birthday. Even though he is no longer living, there is one place where young Americans can go to learn more about his character, his values and his accomplishments - the Reagan Ranch.
This year, Young America's Foundation, an educational nonprofit based in Herndon, Va., celebrates the 15th anniversary of its saving and preserving of this special property.
This wouldn't be possible, however, without the generosity of Americans across the country who invest in this historic project.
Young America's Foundation is honored to recognize the important philanthropy of Allan and Janie Dahl of Harmony for this reason.
The Dahls, owners of the Prosper Lumber Company, have been committed to sharing their passion for conservative values with young people for years. They recognize the secret to their success- hard, honest work - is a critical American value to teach. Coming themselves from humble beginnings, they also feel a responsibility to give back.
Most recently, the Dahls decided to sponsor a grazing pasture acre of the Reagan Ranch with a substantial charitable gift. This is the second such sponsorship they've completed since 2010.
Young America's Foundation preserves and protects Ronald Reagan's 688-acre ranch in the mountains above Santa Barbara, Calif. It uses this historic Presidential property to pass on the ideas and lasting accomplishments of America's greatest modern champion of freedom.
The Reagan Ranch is the center for Young America's Foundation's efforts to teach increasing numbers of young Americans the ideas of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise and traditional values.
President Reagan once said, "There is a flickering spark in all of us...which if struck at just the right age, can light up the rest of our lives."
Allan and Janie Dahl are also committed to this belief in the power of reaching young minds early, which is why they've been such strong believers in the educational mission of Young America's Foundation.
Each acre of the Reagan Ranch is available for sponsorship. Grazing pasture acres like those sponsored by the Dahls represent special places on the Ranch property that meant a great deal to this nation's 40th President. Their gift will be used for ranch-related educational programs, maintenance and long-term protection of the property.
For more information about Young America's Foundation's programs, one may visit the website www.yaf.org, call 1-888-USA-1776, or write to The Reagan Ranch, 217 State Street, Santa Barbara, Calif., 93101.
