The Harmony Area Community Foundation (HACF) was recently established by local citizens to enhance and sustain the quality of life for residents of the greater Harmony area. HACF is organized as a fund underneath the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. HACF supports projects that build a stronger community by responding to the surrounding area's existing and emerging needs. Donations to HACF are tax deductible.

The Harmony Area Community Foundation's focus areas are parks and trails, Fillmore Central Schools, public library, arts and history, health and the environment and general community support and growth. The foundation is a vehicle for donors to make charitable contributions - cash, commodities, securities, life insurance, bequests, real and/or personal property - for the benefit of the greater community.

Recently, HACF was able to leverage its funds with a matching grant from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation to donate $10,000 to the Harmony Park Board for the new equipment at Selvig Park. Additional contributions for this special project are being received.

To grow the fund, HACF has started its "Founders Club," which is limited to the first 100 donors of $1,000 or more. Donations for the Founders Club will be accepted as pledges for as little as $100 per year for 10 years. These donations will be leveraged with other foundation dollars to ensure HACF has the future funds necessary to invest in the community.
