Mabel hires new deputy clerk

When asked how Nathan Manning feels about the opportunity to serve as the deputy city clerk of Mabel, he replied, "Excited...very excited!"
On March 6, Manning started a new chapter in his life.
"I wanted something steady and it was the right opportunity - the right timing," he added.
As deputy city clerk, Manning is responsible for the utility billing, handling elections, updating the city website, handling bookings for the community center and customer service. He shared that the most challenging aspect of the job has been "learning the ropes" and grasping the billing programs.
Manning was six months old when he and his parents, Kevin and Joan Manning, moved to Mabel. He graduated from Mabel-Canton High School in 2003.
The fall after he graduated from high school, he attended Winona Technical College for sales management.
Prior to moving back to Mabel in January, Manning was living in Ridgeway, Iowa, and working as a distributor for Kirby Home Care Systems.
Beyond the office
When Manning isn't at city hall learning the ropes, he continues to be a distributor for Kirby Home Care Systems.
He is also eagerly awaiting warmer weather to enjoy some time with family and friends on the river kayaking, canoeing and tubing.
Manning added, "I feel so very fortunate and lucky that I have great people to work with."
