Support for Empty Bowls

Empty Bowls of Harmony recently received a $200 donation from Operation Round Up (ORU) through Tri-County Electric Cooperative. The donation is to support the "Fill More Bowls in Fillmore County" event that raises money for Fillmore County food shelves. This year's dinner will be held on Sunday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Harmony Community Center. Shown, from left, are ORU Trustee Skip Hrejsa, Empty Bowls volunteers Miriam Harstad and JoAnn Runkel and ORU Trustee Mary George. ORU is a voluntary program where members of Tri-County Electric Cooperative elect to round up their electric bill to the next dollar. The extra change is put into a trust fund, administered via an application process and monies are given to local worthy organizations or projects. About 1,200 members currently participate with the average of $6 a year per member. It truly shows that small change can make a difference. To learn more about Operation Round Up visit www.tec.coop.
