Mabel's own Kirsten Wyffels, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), will help Winneshiek Medical Center expand services to the southeast Minnesota region.
Kirsten Wyffels, DNP, is joining Winneshiek Medical Center to provide care in the Mabel Clinic beginning in July, bringing expanded hours and both increased access and continuity of care to patients in the Hesper-Mabel area and southern Fillmore County.
A Mabel citizen and community leader, Wyffels is joining Winneshiek Medical Center to provide care in the Mabel Clinic beginning this summer. The expanded hours and increased access and continuity of care to patients in the Hesper-Mabel area and southern Fillmore County is expected to take place in July.
Wyffels received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and her Master of Science in Nursing with Specialization in Advanced Family Practice from Winona State University. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Winona State University in 2009.
Most recently, Wyffels has practiced within the Gundersen Lutheran system, providing care in southeast Minnesota long-term care facilities. She also has experience in the Mayo Clinic Health System - Albert Lea Express Clinic, as the housing manager/RN for an assisted living facility in Harmony and as an adjunct faculty at Winona State University.
Wyffels has been a city of Mabel councilperson since 2004 and president of Mabel's Economic Development Authority since 2008. She is a Sunday school instructor and a church pianist at Canton-Presbyterian Church and is a Mabel Food Shelf volunteer.
Gretchen Dahlen, chief administrative officer of Winneshiek Medical Center said, "We are very excited that Kirsten is joining Winneshiek Medical Center and, specifically, the Mabel Clinic. She is well known and respected in the Mabel community, and will expand health care services in the community."
Referencing the late Dr. Brynjulv Kvamme's 42 years at the Mabel Clinic, Dahlen added, "Doc Wyffels will re-establish the full-time clinic in Mabel by providing primary care to people of all ages."
