Orlenn "O.P." Peterson, 71,of Canton, formerly of the Mabel area, died suddenly on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, in Canton.
He was born Feb. 23, 1941, in Spring Grove, to Ardis Peterson. He attended the Mabel Public Schools.
He married Signe Onsgard Duneman. They later divorced. He worked as a farm laborer, a truck driver, both locally and over the road, and then at Featherlite in Cresco, Iowa, for several years until his retirement.
He enjoyed truck and tractor pulls.
He is survived by two grandchildren, Brooklyn Jo and Fredrick Joseph Stevenson; three half-brothers, Neal Forde of Holmen, Wis., James Forde of Forest Lake, Minn., and Brian Forde of Pontiac, Mich.; a half-sister, Mary Havlik of La Crosse Wis.; three uncles, Merle Peterson of Mabel, John Peterson of Preston, and Gary Peterson of Northfield; two step-children, Jody (Kevin) Robson of Cresco and Chad Duneman of Mabel; and two step-grandchildren, Amber and Abby Robson.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda, and his mother.
Funeral services were held last Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Garness Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel was in charge of arrangements.
