Wilma Weness, 88, sister of Fountain resident

Wilma Kathryn Weness, 88, of Adams, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.
She was born Oct. 8, 1925, in rural Grand Meadow, the daughter of William and Rachel (Julson) Hardecopf.
She graduated from the Adams High School and was married to Selmer Weness on June 12, 1945.
She was a lifelong area resident and farmed with her husband until 1978. She was employed by Wagner's Super Value for 18 years and was active in church activities through the Women of ELCA, her circle and with quilting.
She was a charter board member of Friends and Fellowship. She served on the Adams Health Care Auxiliary and enjoyed family gatherings, baking, cooking and crocheting.
Survivors include her five children, Karen (Richard) Doughan of Waukee, Iowa, Shirley (Randy) Sammons of Atlanta, Ga., Gary (Angie) of North Branch, BJ (Laura) of Blue Earth and Mark (Cher) of Adams; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Finseth of Fountain; and two brothers, Lloyd (Alice) Hardecopf of LeRoy and Neil of Holmen Hardecopf, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Selmer and three sisters.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, with the Rev. Jeremy Johnson officiating.
