Aric Elton of East Division champion Spring Grove is the coaches' choice for Player of the Year for the second season. The Lions and East runner-up Houston each had three boys on the 15-man 2012 All-Southeast Conference Basketball Team. West champion Glenville-Emmons, Lanesboro and Lyle/Pacelli each placed a pair of players on the honor squad with one each from Mabel-Canton, Hope Lutheran and Schaeffer Academy.

Joining Elton as a three-time honoree is the league's leading scorer Braden Hanson of Lanesboro. Eight (over half) of this year's selections repeat from 2011 including Steve Smith of Mabel-Canton, Skylar Meyer of Lyle/Pacelli, SEC steals leader Blaine Storlie of Spring Grove, Josh Vix of Houston, Jason Klug of Hope Lutheran and conference assist leader Cory Strom of Lanesboro.

Two players moved up from last year's Honorable Mention list - David Diang of Lyle/Pacelli and league-leading rebounder Jordan Whitcomb. Also making their First Team debut are a pair of Hurricanes, Hans Lundberg and Tyler Peplinski, along with Jake Kraus of Spring Grove, plus two G-E cagers, Wyatt Madson and threepoint king Derek Olson. Four average a double double - Smith of Mabel-Canton (20.5 ppg, 12.1 rpg), Meyer of L/P (14.2 ppg, 10.5 rpg), Whitcomb of Schaeffer (15.1 ppg, 12.5 rpg) and Madson (12.4 ppg, 11.4 rpg) There are eight seniors, six juniors and one sophomore.

Perimeter players dominated the team with 11 guards, two forwards and a pair of post players. Of the seven cagers with eligibility remaining, two each return to both Lyle/Pacelli and Glenville-Emmons.
