Last week the Fillmore Central gals lost a pair of games to Grand Meadow (49-38), on Monday, and on Tuesday to Southland 80-34), the top team in the Three Rivers Conference. In fact, Southland can clinch the TRC crown with one more win, either against Caledonia Tuesday, Feb. 12), or Plainview-Elgin-Millville (Friday, Feb. 15).

In the loss to Grand Meadow, Morgan Malley had a team high 14 points, hitting a pair of 2's, a pair of 3's, and four for six from the free throw line. Jordan O'Connor contributed seven points and Kaitlynn Aug added six. Rebound leaders were Leah Scheevel, 9, and Sammi Bakke, 8. Scheevel also had four of the team's eight steals.

"The girls gave it their all," said coach Sarah Tollefsrud, "but we just didn't 'click' on offense."

Individual scoring vs. GM...Morgan Malley 14, Jordan O'Connor 7, Leah Scheevel 3, Kenzie Broadwater 4, Sammi Bakke 4, Kaitlynn Aug 6. Three's, 4; Malley (2), O'Connor, Broadwater.

Tuesday they lost to Southland, their fifth game played in six days. Leah Scheevel topped the Falcon scoring with 10, hitting five of seven shots from the field. She also had three rebounds and two steals. Morgan Malley chipped in nine points, and also had three rebounds. Eighth grader Kenzie Broadwater five points, four rebounds, and only one turnover against the "top dog."

Eighth grader Kendyl Bennett came off the bench and scored four points, on a perfect night: 1 for 1 from the field and 2 for 2 from the line.

"Ouch, this one hurt," said Tollefsrud. "Southland is so good, they made everything look so easy. Southland is one of the top teams in the area."
