In spite of the not-so-nice weather, the Fillmore Central golf teams continue to play well.

On May 2 the Fillmore Central girls came out on top in a triangular with Chatfield and Kingsland. The gals had a team score of 199, beating Chatfield (261) by 62 strokes and Kingsland (270) by 71 strokes. Leading the way for the Lady Falcons was Keeley Todd, with a medalist score of 48. Also playing on the varsity were Grace Miller (49), Madison Scheevel (50), Katie Tammel (52), Elayna Kiehne (55) and Laura Dooney (60). The match was played in Harmony, par 36.

This past Monday the gals took on Lanesboro, and downed the Burros, 194-232. Leading the way, again, was Todd, with a nine-hole score of 45. Shooting a very good round of 47 was seventh grader Madison Scheevel. Other varsity scores: Tammel (51), Kiehne (51), Dooney (53) and Miller (53).

The junior varsity also had a match with Lanesboro. They also beat the Burros, 245-253. Here are the scores from the JV golfers: Cailey Rindels (60), Rianna Ryan (62), Taylor Wilford (68), Tenisha Schweitzer (68), Libby Onsager (64), Madison Bakken (67), Skyelar Veiseth (65) and Haley Ostrom (59).

Coach Lane Powell said he was "really excited" about the prospects of this team when contacted Monday night following the win over Lanesboro.

The gals also participated in the Wabasha-Kellogg tournament, finishing in a tie for third with Lewiston-Altura, at 407. Lake City won the meet with a score of 340. W-K was second at 396. No individual scores were available for this meet.

The boys have also been busy on the links and they, too, have been playing well.

The guys also took part in the W-K tournament, finishing third with a score of 369. L-A won it with a score of 338. Lake City was second with a team score of 340. Eight teams participated in the Falcon Open. Individual scores at W-K: Jordan Miller (86), Trevor Barnes (89), Matson Kiehne (96), Alex Lange (98), Delton Sauer (98) and Connor Morem (108). It is thought that Miller was ninth, as an individual.

Last week the guys (162) defeated Kingsland (220) and Chatfield (226). Morem was medalist for the Falcons with a round of 39. This is the third different Falcon to be medalist in a match so far this season. Other FC scores: Miller (40), Barnes (41), Lange (42), Kiehne (42) and Sauer (49).

"The guys played well today," said coach Brad Holten.

This past Monday, the Falcons went head-to-head with Lanesboro, and defeated the Burros, 172-188. Tops for the guys was Miller with a medalist round of 38. The other varsity scores were Lange (42), Barnes (46), Morem (46), Sauer (48) and Kiehne (51).

The B squad also downed Lanesboro, 208-250. Falcon scores: Andrew Reicks (48), Devin Whitacre (49), Will Nolan (55), Dacoda Johnson (56), Vaughan Schmidt (61) and Brennan Tienter (65).
