Guys season ends with Spring Grove; Eickhoff hits 22
Wednesday, March 14, 2012 5:24 AM
Tyler Eickhoff finished his high school basketball career with 22 points, hitting nine of 14 shots from the field and 2/2 at the free throw line. Eickhoff also had the only recorded steal of the game for Fillmore Central and dished out three assists. An appropriate way for the leading scorer to "go out."
Dan Gatzke was also in double-figures for the Falcons, hitting five of 10 shots for an even 10 points. Gatzke led the team in rebounds with eight. Ryan Mayer had seven boards in the 73-61 loss to the Lions and added nine points
As a team, Fillmore Central hit 26/52, 50.0 percent, from the field. Isaac Sveen, who came into the ballgame averaging a little over 10 points per game, took, and made, only one shot in the game. Sveen was "hampered" with foul problems throughout the game. While Sveen wasn't able to carry the Falcons to a win, on several occasions he "carried" several Spring Grove players, but still encountered foul trouble.
Ryan Baker and Zach Olstad each scored seven points in the game. Olstad also led the team with five assists, while Baker dished out four to his teammates. Andy Todd rounded out the scoring with two buckets and four points.
With the loss to Spring Grove, Fillmore Central finished the season with a 9-19 record.
