The Section 1A True Team track and field championships were held at Rushford-Peterson's Ben Niggle Sports Complex on Tuesday, May 7.

Sixteen men's and women's teams were represented at the meet. Lanesboro/Fillmore Central/Mabel-Canton finished fourth in boys' totals and seventh in girls' rankings.

The top teams in women's events were Lake City with 882 points, Chatfield (850), Pine Island (816.5), Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Southland (810), Rushford-Peterson/Houston (721.5), Cotter (684), and L/FC/M-C (647.50).

For the boys, Cotter took first with 862.50 points, followed by Pine Island (810), Lake City (728), L/FC/M-C (723.5), Zumbrota-Mazeppa (682), and Chatfield (630).

As the name implies, points are assigned to all team members, not just the top six spots that most meets award points for. For example, first place in individual events earned 32 points (with up to 32 entrants) and so on down the line. The qualifier in 32nd place thus earned one point.

Olivia Haug won the discus throw at 117-02. She also took second in shot put.

The 4x800M relay team of Bailey Ruen, Maggie Decker, Kendyl Bennett and Sara Vettleson-Trutza took fifth place.

Eighth grader Kenzie Broadwater took fifth in the 100M dash, sixth in the 400M dash, and ninth in the 200M.

Kiera Olson took fifth in the 1600M, while Ruen took fifth at the 3200M.

Alisa Warnes took seventh in high jump. The 4x200M relay of Vettleson-Trutza, Bennett, Warnes, and Leah Scheevel also took seventh in their event.

In boys' events, Gabe Decker won the pole vault competition, clearing 12-00.

The 4x100M team of Niko Anderson, Andy Coyle, Jacob Ritter and Gabe Decker finished second, and posted a good enough time (46.31) to earn a place on the state honor roll.

The 4x400M relay ran by Quentin Case, Zach Case, Brandon Breitsprecher and Erik Peterson took second as well with a time of 3:39.89, also earning a spot on the state honor roll.

Quentin Case took fourth in the 300M hurdles and sixth in the 110M hurdles.

Brandon Breitsprecher took fifth in the 300M hurdles and tied for seventh in the 110M hurdles.

The 4x800M relay of Brady Ristau, Zach Case, Zach Voeltz and Nathaniel Harrison took fifth place.

The Southeast Conference track meet is scheduled for May 14 at Grand Meadow. On May 23, the varsity track and field sub-section meet will be held at Rushford-Peterson.
