The Ben Niggle Sports Complex in Rushford saw plenty of action on Thursday, April 25, as track and field teams from Cotter, Caledonia/Spring Grove, Rushford-Peterson/Houston, and Lanesboro/Fillmore Central/Mabel-Canton competed.

Eighteen events were scored, but equipment problems resulted in no official results for the 100-meter dash events for both the boys' and girls' competitors.

R-P/H finished first in women's team points (77), followed by Cotter (74), L/FC/M-C (64), and C/SG (57). In boys' competition, Cotter was first (87), L/FC/M-C second (74.5), R-P/H third (62) and C/SG fourth (45.50).

In L/FC/M-C girls' events, Kenzie Broadwater took second in the 200M, scoring 4 points. Kenndyl Bennett won the 400M in 1:08.68, earning 6 points. Alisa Warnes took fourth in the 400M, good for another 2 points. Maggie Decker took third (3 points) in the 800M. At 1600M, Leah Ruen scored 3 points with a third place finish.

L/FC/M-C finished 1-2 (10 points) in the 3200M, with Kiera Olson crossing the line in 13:12.78, and Bailey Ruen finishing in 13:20.19.

Journey Olson won another point with a fifth place finish in the 100M hurdles. In the 4x400M relay, the team of Warnes, Bennett, Sara Vettleson-Trutza, and Broadwater took second (4 points). Another 4 points were earned in the 4x800M when Vettleson-Trutza, Leah Ruen, Decker, and Kiera Olson took second.

Madison Ming took fifth in high jump, good for a team point. Michaela Brazee took fourth (2 points) in pole vault. Broadwater earned another 4 points with a second-place in long jump. Belle Sand added a point with a fifth place finish in that event.

In throwing, Olivia Haug earned 10 points, taking second in shot put and first in discus with a fling of 108-06. Katlyn Evans added 3 more points with a third-place in the latter event.

Boys' events featured a first-place finish by Erik Peterson in the 400M dash (56.67), good for 6 points. Gabe Decker took fifth in the 200M dash, earning another point.

The middle distances had a 2-3 finish by Chris Collett (second) and Nathanial Harrison in the 800M.

At 1600M Travis Troendle took third, followed by Zach Voeltz in fourth. Troendle also took third in the 3200M. Steven Rein took fourth in that event.

Quentin Case took second in both the 110M and 300M hurdles, earning 8 points in two races. Brandon Breitsprecher took third in the same two events, adding 6 points to the team's total.

Relays found L/FC/M-C taking second in the 4x200M, winning the 4x400 with a time of 3:51.06, and winning the 4x800 in 9:15.23.

Damon Zutz, Peterson, Zach Case and Andy Coyle comprised the A team on the 4x200. The 4x400 featured Quentin Case, Zach Case, Breitsprecher and Peterson. The 4x800 "A" squad was manned by Zach Case, Collin Bennett, Nathaniel Harrison and Christian Collett.

Gabe Decker won the pole vault, earning 6 points by clearing the bar at 11-06.00. Breitsprecher added 1.5 points to the team's total by tying for fourth in high jump.

Isaac Freese took second (4 points) in shot put. McKinnen Stone took third in discus and fourth in shot put, scoring 5 points.

No points were awarded for the "unofficial" 100M dash winners. That probably cost L/FC/M-C some girls' team points as Broadwater was the unofficial winner at 13.26. C/SG's Ally Beardmore had a second-best unofficial time of 13.30, while Cotter's Leah Koll was third at 13.45. In the boys' 100M, Ryan Pitts of C/SG had the best unofficial time (11.28), followed by Jason Klug of Cotter (11.98) and Jacob Nielson of C/SG (12.01).
