Lanesboro/Fillmore Central/Mabel-Canton makes great showing at sub-section track meet
Burros advance in 19 events

Four sub-section track meets were held last week to determine which athletes will move on to Section 1A events. Lanesboro/Fillmore Central/Mabel-Canton competed in Sub-section 1 at Chatfield on Thursday, May 22.

To qualify for the section track meet, athletes must place third or higher at sub-section, achieve a standard (time, distance, or height) or be among the top eight in all four sub-sections. Section 1A is being be held on May 27 and 29 at Paul Giel Field in Winona.
Olivia Haug won the discuss throw (111 feet -02 inches) and took second in shot put.
Kenzie Broadwater met the standard in the 100M dash, and ran on the winning 4x400-meter relay with Bailey Ruen, Kendyl Bennett and Paige Bennett. That team broke the tape in 4 minutes, 13.84 seconds.
The 4x800M relay of Alyssa Gathje, Bailey Ruen, Leah Ruen and Kendyl Bennett also won their final, in 10:16.22
Belle Sand took first place in high jump, clearing 4-07.00.
Kiera Olson won the 3200M dash in 12:08.56.
The 4x200M relay featuring Maggie Decker, Leah Scheevel, Sara Vettleson-Trutza and Paige Bennett took third. Vettleson-Trutza finished in a tie for third in the 400M dash.
Michaela Brazee took third in pole vault.
For the boys, Bram Van Lent won the 300M hurdles in 42.56.
Niko Anderson took second in the 200M dash and helped two relay squads qualify as well. The 4x200M took second, with Anderson, Van Lent, Quentin Case and Monty Holm. The 4x100M got third, with Holm, Anderson, Van Lent and Gabe Decker.
Decker also took third in pole vault.
Case ran on three qualifying events. Besides the 4x200M, he was part of the third-place 4x400 team that included Damon Zutz, Zach Voeltz and Holm, and took third in the 110M hurdles.
The 4x800 squad took third. That group included Layton Howerton, Matthew Kiehne, Steven Rein and Treyton Chiglo. Finally, Travis Troendle took third in the 3200M.
There were seven teams in attendance. The L/FC/M-C ladies finished third in team points (111.25) behind Rushford Peterson/Houston (141.58) and Winona Cotter (120.83). The boys from L/FC/M-C took sixth, with 87 points.
