The Humane Society of Northeast Iowa will be a featured guest at the Simple Living Farmers Market on Saturday, Aug. 24. Members will be on hand to offer retail items such as t-shirts, leashes and cloth tote bags as well as raffle tickets for a beautiful quilt.

Sales of these items benefit local homeless pets.

Members will also be providing information about adopting, fostering and/or donating to the Humane Society of Northeast Iowa.

Sue Elsbernd, a member and foster mom to a friendly black and tan coonhound, Jack, will be there to introduce people to this wonderful ambassador for the humane society. While he is available for adoption, prospective "fur-ever" parents will need to fill out an application for adoption before taking him home.

In addition to the humane society, Kathy Newman will be offering herbal oil and vinegar demonstrations at her stand.

The Simple Living Farmers Market is located one-quarter mile west of Mabel on Highway 44. The market is open from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Saturday through Oct. 12.
