Are you a low-income homeowner? Does your house need exterior paint or other exterior repairs? Do you need a new roof, siding or windows? Does your yard need new landscaping or fence repairs? Do you need a wheel chair ramp?

If you (or someone you know) answered yes to any of the above questions you may qualify for Habitat for Humanity's A Brush with Kindness home repair program.

A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) assists homeowners impacted by age, disability and family circumstances who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. The aim is to allow these homeowners to reclaim the pride and dignity of homeownership by offering an affordable means of exterior home improvement to maintain the value of the home. ABWK joins forces with corporate partners, community organizations, and churches to repair, repaint and landscape homes.

A Brush with Kindness focuses primarily on neighborhood revitalization through minor exterior maintenance, limited landscaping and limited exterior painting projects. Minor exterior repairs are offered at the discretion of Habitat for Humanity Winona-Fillmore Counties. A program fee will be charged to the homeowner to help defray the cost of materials. Family income and scope of work to be done will be used to determine the program fee.

Currently, Habitat for Humanity is looking for homeowners to partner with A Brush with Kindness program in the upcoming project year 2013-2014. There are limited spots available. If one would like to receive help or wants more information, contact Habitat for Humanity at (507) 459-4199. Application deadline is May 20.
