Last Saturday, the Harmony Chamber of Commerce and the local businesses held the first "Taste of the Trail" event in Harmony, sponsored by the Root River Trail Towns (RRTT) committee.

"By all accounts, it was very successful and fun for all," said Ralph Beastrom, one of the local committee members. "The event was very well attended by cyclists, other visitors to town and local folks as well."

He added that the businesses and churches did an excellent job preparing and distributing food samples to those attending the event.

"We received many comments about the great food samples, appreciation for the event, surprise in what Harmony has to offer and our great hospitality," Beastrom added. "Hopefully, this partnership with Root River Trail Towns will continue and more great events like this help promote all of the towns on the trail system and what we have to offer."

Participating businesses included Asahi Loft, Harmony Foods, JEM Theatre, On The Crunchy Side, QUARTER/quarter Restaurant and Wine Bar, Selvig House B&B, Village Depot and Village Square. Local churches shared samples of popular recipes from their cookbooks, including Greenfield Lutheran, Harmony United Methodist and Nativity Catholic.

This was the second Saturday of the three-weekend event. Activities were held in Lanesboro, Whalan and Peterson during the first weekend, Preston and Harmony last weekend and next Saturday, area residents and visitors will be able to enjoy activities in Rushford, Rushford Village and Houston.
