Highway 16 in Fillmore County from Lanesboro to Rushford is now open to traffic, although work is not yet completed, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Highway 16, originally expected to remain closed through August, had been closed while crews conducted the pavement reclamation and first part of resurfacing. Motorists should expect slight delays as flaggers and a pilot car will now control traffic.

Dunn Blacktop, a division of Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor for the project scheduled to be completed in late September. When the project is finished, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones. For Minnesota statewide travel information, visit www.511mn.org, call 5-1-1 or log on to www.mndot.gov.
