Chelcie Busch from Mabel-Canton High School participated in the regional History Day competition held at Winona State University on Saturday, April 6. History Day is a national competition that includes a regional, state and national event. Each year students are supposed to create history projects that revolve around a theme. This year the theme was Turning Points in History. Chelcie created an exhibit project called "Flags of America" and focused on how the creation of the first flag by Betsy Ross was a turning point in history because it united the 13 colonies during the Revolutionary War. To create her exhibit, Chelcie used red, white and blue fabric to create a background that resembled one of the first flags of the United States. Then she added pictures and facts about the flag and explained why it was a turning point in history.
