Mabel's fifth annual Holiday Expo will be held at the Mabel American Legion from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23. Events include a craft show, the sale of baked goods and lunch - all based at the American Legion.

Event organizer Pearl Holland said they expect between 20 to 25 exhibitors at the expo.

"Last year we used upstairs and downstairs (of the legion) for the craft fair. I think our furthest one we had (exhibitor) was from Illinois," she said.

Holland added she is anticipating some new exhibitors to participate this year. "We are always full," she said.

While a visit from Santa will not be offered this year, Holland said that jolly old St Nicholas will likely be making a return to the event in coming years as a treat for area children.

"We don't have Santa Claus up here but we will probably have to go into that I guess. Maybe not this year; it will be another year - we just ran out of time," Holland said with a smile.

Lunch at the Legion will include homemade soup, sandwich, and desserts. Proceeds from the lunch will help pay for the cost associated with the event.

"We always get a pretty good crowd," Holland said.
