Betty Mohs, 86, of Harmony, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse.

She was born July 28, 1927, in Bristol Township of Fillmore County, the daughter of Milton and Gladys (Hovey) Cheney. At the age of 6 her family moved to Lime Springs where she attended school. She worked at the Lime Springs IGA store for Wilbur Wells until she married Donald Mohs on Sept. 12, 1946, in Ostrander.

She and her husband farmed in York Township for 21 years. In October of 1967 they moved to Harmony where she first worked for HECO for nine years and then Harmony Healthcare for 21 years prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Greenfield Lutheran Church, an active member of the Esther Circle and was a member of the hospital auxiliary.

She loved traveling, quilting, camping, antiques, caring for her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Mohs of Harmony; three children, Richard (Vicki) Mohs of Brunswick, Mo., Janell (Dennis) Torgerson of Caledonia and Randy Mohs of Harmony; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Leverson of Lime Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David, his wife, Sandy, and their son, Dylan; and three siblings, Jean Terbest, Marley Cheney and Roger Cheney.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. Interment will be in Saetersdal Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony.
