David Allen Finley, Sr., 66, of Lake City, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

He was born Dec. 5, 1945, in Austin, to John and Dorris Engstrom. He grew up in the Austin area and attended Mower County School and graduated from Austin High School in 1964.

On Jan. 21, 1965, he married Patricia Grebin in Iron Mountain, Mich. They lived in Coon Rapids and Preston before moving to Lake City in 1976. He worked for the city of Lake City for 35 years as the wastewater and water supervisor.

He enjoyed cars, firearms, history and reading.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Finley of Lake City; two daughters, Susan (Shawn) Fitzsimmons and Nicole Finley, both of Lake City; two sons, David L. (Dawn) Finley of Lake City and Jason Finley of Edina; five grandchildren, Justin, Bradley, Courtney, Halie and Gracie; and five great-grandchildren, Everett, Roman, Aubree, Jackson and Markie, III; five sisters, Marion Rankin of Ankeny, Iowa, Beverly Klusmeier of Otramto, Iowa, Winnie (Ken) Greenlee of Austin, Judy Finley of Braham and Janet Finley of Adams; and one brother, Lawrence Finley of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lorraine; and two brothers, Virgil and Gordon.

The memorial service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City, with the Rev. David Badgley officiating.
