David Arnold Trende, 65, of Preston, Minn., died Tuesday morning, Jan. 1, 2013, at his home.

He was born July 19, 1947, in Harmony, Minn., the son of William and Ramona (Marzolf) Trende. He was raised on a farm in the Harmony/Preston area and was a 1965 graduate of Harmony High School. He was a mechanic and transportation supervisor for Preston-Fountain Public Schools for a number of years and most recently for First Student, formerly Laidlaw, in Rochester. He married Victoria Alberta Denny in 1974 and the couple later divorced.

He enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, bowling, tinkering with vehicles, watches and caring for his four cats.

Survivors include one son, Paul Michael of Preston; stepson, Christopher Lee Denny of Preston; three step grandchildren; his mother, Ramona, of Harmony; three sisters, Becky (Jim) Lohman of Waukon, Iowa, Bonnie (Bill) Carmen of Green Bay, Wis., and Susan (Dave) Gilbertson of Hayfield, Minn.; and two brothers, Larry Dean (Linda K.) Trende of Cresco, Iowa, and Mike (Cyrilla) Trende of Preston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Marilyn Trende.

A memorial service was held at the Big Spring Lutheran Church in rural Harmony on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013. Burial of his ashes was at the Big Spring Lutheran Cemetery.
