Dawn Lechtenberg, 63, of Festina, Iowa, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at her home from brain cancer.

She was born Feb. 27, 1950, the daughter of Donald and Rosemary (Cline) Brockway in West Union, Iowa. She graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1968. She was united in marriage to Larry Lechtenberg on Dec. 22, 1969, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa. She was a beautician for many years and for the last 27 years, she worked at Rockwell Collins in Decorah until her health forced her to quit.

She was a wonderful baker and cook. She enjoyed playing cards, family reunions and her grandchildren who called her "Nana." She enjoyed spending time with her favorite dog, Jax.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Lechtenberg of Festina, Iowa; a daughter, Heidi (friend, Bryan Foster) Whitehouse of Knoxville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Alexa and Mason Whitehouse; a sister, Jeri (Tom) Humpal of Calmar, Iowa; three brothers, Donald (Kay) Brockway of Preston, Larry (Kathy) Brockway of Castalia, Iowa, and Gary (Lori) Brockway of Postville, Iowa; an aunt, Betty Cline, and uncle, Walt (Dorothy) Brockway, both of Waterloo, Iowa; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Lechtenberg of Ossian, Iowa, sisters and brothers-in-law, Alan (Kathy) Lechtenberg of Calmar, Lois (Gary) Frana of Calmar, Joan (Gary) Winings of Dover, Del., Lora (Dave) Kuhn of Anamosa, Iowa, and Vernelle (Floyd) Hackman of Fort Atkinson, Iowa, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Rosemary (Cline) Brockway; two children, Kimberly in 1972 and Cory in 1978; and her father-in-law, Theodore Lechtenberg.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, July 1, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa.

Schluter- Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar was in charge of arrangements.
