Diane Torgerson, 63, of Harmony, died unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012. She suffered an apparent heart attack Monday morning at her beloved church in Greenleafton.

Diane Marie Kiehne was born April 4, 1949, in Harmony to Edward and Evelyn (Christianson) Kiehne. She graduated from Harmony High School in 1967. She lived in the Harmony and Canton area all of her life.

On Dec. 14, 1968, she married Larry Torgerson. Together they had three children. They were later divorced.

Getting together with family and friends was a huge part of her life. She loved cooking and baking many good foods to share with all the special people in her life. She was such a caring, thoughtful person who did so much for so many people.

She built her career on helping and caring for others. She was employed by Sunshine Place (Maple Leaf Services) for more than 20 years. She owned and operated Ed & Aggie's Restaurant, was a CNA/TMA at Harmony Healthcare and Heritage Grove for five years and, most recently, the custodian at the Greenleafton church. She cared deeply for the people she took care of. To her it wasn't just a job, it was her way of life.

Survivors include her children, both of Harmony, Allen (Liz) Torgerson and Angie (Howard) Haugerud; eight grandchildren, Braden Bentley of Stewartville, Nile and Annika Torgerson, Nathaniel, Ashley, Zachery and Joshua Haugerud, all of Harmony and her unborn grandson, due in February, whom she was so excited to meet. She is also survived by a special family she also considered her own, Jody (Dennis) Solberg of Canton, Jenessa, Dustin, Taylor, Logan, Andrew, Amber, Micah and Bronson, and Steve (Donia) Engen of Elbow Lake, Minn., Alex, Emily, Alyssa, Annabella and Spencer; her three sisters, all of Harmony, Carol (Walt) Ward, Nelda Bjertness and Marilyn Norton; an aunt, Irene Rice of Canton; her former mother-in-law, Dorothy, and the entire Torgerson family, many nieces, nephews, cousins and all of those special kids who called her "Ma Torg."

She was preceded in death by her son, LuVerne Edward Torgerson; her parents; her brother, LuVerne Francis Kiehne, and a special friend, Harlan Bock.

Funeral services were held last Friday at the Greenleafton Reformed Church in Greenleafton with the Rev. Roger Lokker officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Greenfield Cemetery in Harmony.
