Jarla Ferne (Olson) Johnson, 83, of Rose Creek, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

She was born April 3, 1930, in Fillmore County, to Thomas and Edna Olson. She went to country school until the eighth grade.

She married Darrel Johnson on May 10, 1946, in Lanesboro. They had six children that they raised on a farm near Rose Creek.

She loved to take drives around the countryside where she grew up and tell tales of her childhood. She also enjoyed going to auction sales, playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog, Tessa.

Survivors include five children, Sharon (David) Kasten of LeRoy, Rick Johnson of Austin, Pamela Meling of Austin, Randy Johnson of Rose Creek and Cynthia Graham of Austin; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dwayne (Sharon) Olson of Austin and Verdon (Mona) Olson of Spring Grove; and a sister-in-law, Ione Johnson of Austin.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Darrel Johnson; parents, Thomas and Edna Olson; a sister, Gloria Olson; a daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Gary Kraling; a grandson; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; a great-granddaughter.

Memorial services were held last Thursday, Oct. 31, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. Glenn Monson officiating. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery.
