Kermit N. Soma, a resident of the Harmony Care Center in Harmony, died Feb. 15, 2014.

He was born Aug. 9, 1916, near Burr Oak, Iowa, to Ingebret and Josephine Soma. He is a graduate of Harmony High School and attended Luther College. He farmed near Harmony, was a cook on his brother's fishing boat out of Seattle and, in later years, a welder in Ohio.

He is survived by one brother, Alfred of Harmony; nieces, Lynn Ann Bouker of Bellingham, Wash., Janis Soma of Needham, Mass., Sonja Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Pam Soma-Mori of Spring Valley; and nephews Charles Colegrove of Armstrong, Iowa, and Jeff Soma of Harmony.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Merion; and one sister, Margurite Soma Colegrove.

A memorial service will be held at the Harmony Care Center on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m.
