Norman J. Tostenson, 90, of Rochester, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at Golden Living Center East.

Norman Julius Tostenson was born April 4, 1924, in Canton Township in Fillmore County to Julius and Lilly (Fensted) Tostenson.

He was raised on the family farm and attended Canton Consolidated School.

He farmed the family's land until he moved to Rochester in 1948 and worked at Colonial Hospital.

He married Hazel S. Thorsness June 8, 1953, in Rochester. She died Sept. 13, 1974.

He did lawn care and homecare for many of the Mayo doctors until 1978 and then went to work for Mayo Clinic in the custodial department, retiring in 1994.

He was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his son, Wayne of Rochester and one grandson, Jeff of Rochester.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 1, at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
