Raymond C. Riddle, 81, died peacefully Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at his home in Methuen, Mass., with his family by his side.

He was born and educated in Wykoff, the son of Alex and Lily Riddle. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an MP during the Korean Conflict. He met his beloved wife, Barbara Keyes, in Kalamazoo, Mich., and moved to Methuen in 1955. He worked as a painter for many years before working for JJ Levis Paper Company in Lawrence, retiring in 1998.

He and his late wife, Barbara, enjoyed traveling for many years to their favorite place of Aruba. They had celebrated 58 years of marriage. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins and also the New England Patriots. He also loved being with his family in Methuen, Minnesota and Nova Scotia.

He is survived by his son, Lindsey Riddle (Julia) of Methuen; a granddaughter, Amy Riddle; four sisters, Alice Winslow of Fountain, Edith Christopherson of Spring Valley, June Anderson (Wayne) of Wykoff and Harriet Vrieze of Rochester; a brother, Merle Riddle (Barbara), of Cokato, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Janet Elias of North Andover, Mass.; and brother-in-law, Frank Keyes (Mary) of Methuen.

He also leaves lifelong friends from Nova Scotia, Mary Elizabeth MacLellan, Mary and Pat Kelly, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Earl Riddle, and one sister, Delores Calhoun.

Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen on July 15.
