Robert "Bob" Simenson, 66, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus.

He was born Feb. 9, 1948, in Decorah, Iowa, to Earl and Beatha Simenson.

He graduated from Decorah High School in 1966.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 until 1972. He worked at Saint Marys Hospital until 1989 when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

He had many passions in his life. He loved classical music, reading, poetry, history and building model ships.

He is survived by his brothers, Gary (Ann) Simenson of Chatfield, Richard Simenson of Plymouth and David Simenson of Chatfield. He also is survived by his nieces and nephews, Cindy Feeser of Rochester, Lori (Steve) Winter of Wykoff, Jody Simenson of Chatfield, Jon (Maria) Simenson of Stewartville and Shari (Joseph) Fischer of Rochester.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald.

Burial will take place in the spring in Decorah, Iowa.

Macken Funeral Home in Rochester assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
