The Board of Education of Independent School District #238 met in regular session on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at 7 p.m. in the board room.

Members present: Aberg, Hall, Kuhn, Loppnow, Soiney, Swenson and Supt. Moriarty

Absent: Adkins

Also present: Lana Hollar, Michelle Weidemann, Bailey Hanson, Laryssa Hanson, Morris Hanson, Barb Kerns, Jeff Nolte and Chris Hansen

The meeting was called to order by Chair Kuhn.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Motion by Hall, second by Soiney and carried unanimously, to approve revised agenda.

The Board recognized Bailey Hanson as the Excel Winner for 2011-2012 and Gabe Erickson as the AAA Award Winner for 2011-2012.

Motion by Swenson, second by Aberg and carried unanimously, to approve the January 17, 2012, minutes.

Motion by Hall, second by Loppnow and carried unanimously, to approve payment of monthly bills.

Motion by Swenson, second by Aberg and carried unanimously, to approve the Master Agreement with the MCEA for 2011-2013.

Motion by Hall, second by Swenson and carried unanimously, to approve the following 2012-2013 staffing recommendations as presented by Supt. Moriarty: two sections of kindergarten, total teacher staffing at 25 FTE and to maintain the current support staffing numbers and hours.

Motion by Loppnow, second by Hall and carried unanimously, to approve the Sports and Marketing field trip as requested by Ms. Weidemann.

Motion by Swenson, second by Aberg and carried unanimously, to approve a contract for Chelsey Ardinger as a high school paraprofessional for the remainder of the 2011-2012 school year.

Motion by Loppnow, second by Soiney and carried unanimously, to approve a track agreement with Lanesboro Schools for the spring of 2012. Students will be responsible for their own transportation.

Motion by Loppnow, second by Hall and carried unanimously, to approve a bean bag fundraiser for the junior class with proceeds to be used for prom.

Supt. Moriarty reported the tunnel mold project is scheduled to take place over spring break, the revised budget will be presented at the March meeting and Principal Nolte will be attending the National Convention for Principals the week of March 5.

Principal Nolte reported the last PBIS training was coming up for the team, thanked the Student Council and FFA for a well organized FFA Week and Decades Week and updated the Board on elementary technology needs.
