Coach Tris Tollefson only has three letter winners returning this season, but the three hold down very important positions on the field. Sophomore Taylor Case will be at third base, senior Alex Peterson at first base and freshman Morgan Malley will return to the mound for the 2012 season. Malley was an All-Conference pitcher last year and Peterson made the Honorable Mention team.

"We are inexperienced," said Tollefson, "and will have some growing pains, but we are excited about our youth. I think our pitching will keep us in games. We'll need to play good defense and come up with a clutch hit when we need it."

Other players, who seem to be working into their positions, include, Jordan O'Connor (junior, leftfield), Tomi Stone (junior, centerfield), Sammi Bakke (fr., rightfield), Steph Erickson (fr., ss/p) and Victoria Peterson (soph., second base). Three players, Bailey Garner (fr.), Syd Huffman (soph.) and Shelby Ebner (8th) are challenging for the catcher's position.

The Falcons drop to Class A this year. Tollefson sees Chatfield, Lewiston-Altura, Houston and Rushford-Peterson as the powers in the sub-section and Southland, Wabasha-Kellogg and Blooming Prairie as the teams to beat in the West Sub-section.

The Fillmore Central gals open their season against Dover-Eyota, at home, on Tuesday, April 17. The gals will play Three Rivers Conference double-headers against Chatfield, Southland, GMLOK and Rushford-Peterson and single conference games against Dover-Eyota, Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Wabasha-Kellogg, Lewiston-Altura and St. Charles. The team also has non-conference games against La Crescent and Mabel-Canton.
