Last week the Fillmore Central boys basketball team had three games, winning against Wabasha-Kellogg (48-46) and Grand Meadow (69-54) and losing Friday night to Lewiston-Altura (65-51).

Dan Gatzke led the team with 17 points in the win over the "northern" Falcons. He added 12 rebounds for another double-double. Also getting the d-d was Nick Powell: 14 points and 10 rebounds. Gatzke hit seven of 16 shots from the field, while Powell connected on five of eight, including two of two from three-point range. Cal Larson was a perfect three for three on the night, for six points. Logan Masters had a great floor game, dishing out eight assists, one steal and pulling down four rebounds. Powell had a team high four steals.

In the win over the SuperLarks, Nick Powell cashed in for 22 points, hitting eight of 13 shots, including four of five from long range. He came up with his second double-double of the week when he pulled down 13 boards. Dan Gatzke had another good night, scoring 15 points, dishing out four assists and gathering in six rebounds. Gatzke hit seven of 11 shots. "Mr. Assist" Logan Masters, dished out seven, in addition to two rebounds and two steals. Andrew Coyle had a great shooting night, hitting seven of his eight shots for 14 points. Carter Rindels hit two of three, for four points, and Cal Larson was three for four from the field for a half-dozen. Fillmore Central hit 30 of 47 shots from the field, a superb 63.8 percent. Masters added to that percentage, hitting his only attempt, as did Ascher Ostrom.

The Fillmore Central shooting cooled off a bit against Lewiston-Altura, just 37.8 percent, 17/45, as the Falcons lost their first game of the week. Dan Gatzke had a team high 14 points, but nobody else could make it into double-figures. Jacob Tammel hit a couple of three's and finished the night with eight. Carter Rindels had his best scoring night of the season with seven. Ascher Ostrom had his best rebounding game of the season, pulling down five rebounds. Gatzke was the team leader with seven "rebs." Nick Powell pulled down six rebounds and added five points and three steals. Logan Masters led the team in assists, but could "only" come up with three. He's averaging six per game, through the team's first five games.

Tuesday night the Falcons were scheduled to host Dover-Eyota and then "finish the year" with games at Houston on Thursday and a powerful Southland team on Friday.
